In December 2000 I was juggling a full time job, working part-time as a Virtual Secretary along with being a Mum and a wife. After deciding that something major had to change, a call to a Life Coach led to the discovery of the Virtual Assistant Mastery Class. One month and two more clients later I was in a position to hand in my notice and by March 2001 I had set up my company, Blueumbrella, and was working full time from home as a Virtual Secretary. My dream came true.
How did I find the name for my company? Well after weeks of searching for an appropriate name, which was original and available, but to no avail, I was clearing out my desk at work when I was leaving and the last thing in my desk drawer was my umbrella, which happened to be blue. Hey Presto!
The school run has replaced the one and a half hour commute into and out of London and I’m at my desk minutes later. Working from home as a Virtual Secretary and running my own business gives me the flexibility to work the hours that fit in with my life.
